Let's go comedy here:
Dave Chappelle as Ishmael Jack Black as Ahab Vince Vaughn as Starbuck Tony Shaloub as Fedallah Will Ferrell as Queequeg Chris Rock as Daggoo David Letterman as Stubb Jon Stewart as Flask
killee_fishee writes: I agree with Hugh Laurie as Ahab, but WILL FERRELL as Queequeg? Honestly, you can't have a white guy especially that white guy playing someone as awesome as Queequeg. I imagine Queequeg being portrayed by someone like Rudy Youngblood (from Apocalypto).
No NO NO! You've got Ahab all wrong. Obviously the only person to play Ahab would be Sir Sean Connery. Even if her was crazy and vengeful I would still follow him. And I see QueeQueg as more of a Vin Diesel, you know you could see him doing all the things Q does. And Daggoo would be Ice Cube.
Billy Nighy(Davy Jones)-Ahab Vigo Mortensen-Starbuck or maybe Ismael Alan Tudyk (credits include Wat in Knights Tale and Sonny in I Robot)- as Stubb
cast for their acting skill when it comes to chreating a character and I'm relying on make-up very much.Be mindful that some times unknowns come out of the woodwork and are amazing too. I would never cast these unless I met in person or sawthem audtion. AeolusEast
I can actually almost see Viggo Mortensen as an Ahab. He's got a certain sternness about him and he's a fantastic actor, so I have no doubt he could embrace the character.
And because I just watched Atonement and am currently smitten, we must fit James McAvoy in there somewhere. I could see him as Ishmael or maybe Starbuck.
Sylvester Stalone as Queequeg Elijah Wood as Ishmael Christopher Lee as Ahab The Black guy from the Green Mile as Daggoo Clint Eastwood as Starbuck Jack Nicholson as Fedallah Free Willy as Moby Dick
other than that i can see Danial Day Lewis capturing Ahab's insanity quite well Ishmael doesn't really have much of a personality, he really just serves as the narrator so I'll say anyone could play him and I'd go with Leonardo DiCaprio Ken Watanabe(The Last Samurai/Batman Begins) would be a good choice for Quequeeg and can we get Andy Serkis to do the motioncap for Moby? KTMAN
I'm going to go outside the question and recommend Alfonso Cuaron as the director instead of me because I think his single shot sequences would really be able to put you at sea on the Pequod, but then again he would probably find a way to through in a side story about immigrant sea monkeys or something... KTMAN
What about an all girls version? Ishmaela- girl from Juno Lady Ahab- Rosey O'Donald Tashtega- Lucy Lou Queenqueg- Beyonce Starbuck- Tina Fey Stubella- Martha Sterwart Flask- P!nk Fedallah- Tyra Banks Moby Dick- Star Jones (pre surgery) don't lie that is oscar worthy! -the clique

just adding one:
Ahab- Hugh Laurie (saw that one coming) He doesn't fit very well with Dave Chapelle, however.
